About us

Skills and Employment Support Limited was established in 2014 by Dr. Gareth Thomas. We specialise in helping clients to understand and implement effective skills and employment strategies, through a clear and highly developed understanding of the commercial training market and Government policy. We support businesses to grow, maximise their return on investment, and are currently supporting a wide range of partners to achieve their goals and ambitions. These include: 

  • Independent Training Providers (Commercial and publicly funded businesses)

Prior to establishing Skills and Employment Support Limited, Gareth held a number of senior roles in the skills sector on behalf of Government. Gareth’s role’s included Director of Integrated Employment and Skills for the Learning and Skills Council, leading pre-employment programme design and implementation nationally for the Skills Funding Agency, and Head of the Area Relationship Team (East Midlands), overseeing the quality and performance management of many Colleges and Training providers across the East Midlands (including Apprenticeship delivery).  

Since establishing Skills and Employment Support Limited, Gareth has been invited to speak at numerous national conferences and events, and has maintained his close relationship with policy makers. Recently Gareth has supported the Local Skills Improvement Planning Process, working closely with East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire). He has also successfully supported a number of businesses through market entry, growth, diversification and ultimately sale. Gareth is an Education and Skills Ambassador for the Institute of Directors, and Vice President of Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
